Here is what I am wearing for Halloween this year – two simple designs from the holiday’s basic colors of black, orange and white.
On my right hand I have a gradient of sorts, with the help of a fine black glitter.
On my left hand I’m wearing a simple dotted pattern.
Here are the polishes that I used for the designs.
- Sephora by OPI I Think I Cayenne
- CoverGirl Outlast Black Diamond
- Cult Nails Tempest
- CrowsToes Triple Black Diamond
- Seche Vite top coat
Instructions and pictures for the gradient are listed here first. Other pictures for the dotted design are below.
The design started with a base of I Think I Cayenne.
I then added a line of black at the tips. I think the gradient effect works best if the black is 1/3 or less of the nail bed.
I then used a dotting tool to both create some streaks and make the edge of the black less apparent, like it was melting wax.
I almost wanted to stop here because this looked cool, too. =)
Finally I finished off with a light application of the Triple Black Diamond on the orange part. Once that was how I liked, then I applied more on the black glitter so that the shimmery bits were more visible.
To finish it off I applied a thick coat of Seche Vite to smooth out the layers and glitter.
This design is a basic dotted pattern, so I won’t go over it in any detail. However, that I went over the orange dots twice so that they were fully opaque and had the maximum punch.
